Romancing the Stove…
Having devoted the last ten years to perfecting the craft I love, you could say I’m a “classically trained” chef. I’ve called some of Chicago’s most esteemed kitchens home, including the four-star Ritz-Carlton Hotel Dining Room, Wolfgang Puck Enterprises, and Whole Foods Market. I have produced menus for events intimate and grand for many of Chicagoland’s premiere caterers as their on-site chef.

After graduating with honors from Kendall College School of Culinary Arts, called “the Harvard Business School for celebrity chefs” by Northshore Magazine, I began to share my love of fine cuisine by teaching. I’ve lectured and taught specialty foods, wine pairing, and cooking for the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago, Edward Heart Hospital of Naperville, and Slow Food International, as well as in the homes of my private clients. My work has been featured in Gourmet Magazine, on Chicago’s WGN News, and the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Ask anyone who knows me, and they’ll be sure to say, “Dana is WILD about cooking!” I’m inspired by nature when it comes to menu planning, and believe that produce should tell the story of the meal. My training instilled in me the importance of the seasons and my standards are high when it comes to the ingredients I use. My influences are absolutely global, I couldn’t survive a week without eating something slightly Asian.

I have been cooking since I could see the top of a stove. I still draw upon my earliest lessons at the burners from my Southern grandma and kindly European neighbor-ladies. Their styles and methods were very different, but they all shared a common technique: they cooked with great love and care. The idea behind Old Stove Gourmet is just that, to revive the great American home-cooked meal. I’m excited about creating warm mealtime memories at your table.
